Today I learned something amazing about music! First, I listened carefully to a sound, then I mentalized it in my mind, and finally, I reproduced it—what a cool way to learn! I also discovered that Gow Ka means "big drum," which makes so much sense now. It’s fascinating how understanding the meaning behind words helps connect deeper with music. Now, every time I hear that deep, powerful rhythm, I’ll remember—"Gow Ka"- the big drum!

Today was another chance to confirm that TOGETHER we produce a perfect result. The feeling of unity, support, re-assurance was very strong. Even when I lost the rythm, I could return - thanks to the others who kept going.

I feel the same in life - having the other people arround you who support and encourage you - we can do magic ❤️

Today I learned that I've to step out of my head more often. Even tho I got emotional, I enjoyed myself. I also learned about coconuts. That you should hear water inside, otherwise it's not good anymore.

Today I learned to be in harmony with myself and realized that, to recharge my energy, I only need to listen to a great rhythm and beat, and be surrounded by amazing people. Music truly energizes me, and it was hard for me to stay in my seat without getting up and starting to dance.

What also stayed with me today was a story- when a child was born into a family, they planted a tree. And when that person passed away, the family made a musical instrument from a tree, so that whenever it was played, they could remember and reconnect with their loved one. I found that incredibly symbolic.

Today I learned to play a new instrument: Ka. I really loved learning the basics and new rhythms. Rita told us, during the introduction, that it’s normal on the island to teach next generations instruments. I might teach my niece and nephew when they are a bit older, but when I’m home, my first Gwo Ka student will be my dad. I can’t wait to share the knowlegde and joy we had today. I tried to write down the rhythms during the workshop so I can also use this in my own classroom.

Today I learned to play the instrument I never tried. It was amazing experience and I am grateful for it. Also I learned that culture word started from Cultus - to share and I like this meaning much and. We share so we adapt something, use it and give it to our children.

Moreover, thank you Rita for sharing an idea of finding similarities in our differences. I will be back home with this idea.

A couple of days ago I learned a little late how to avoid blisters when drumming (don’t use the tip of tour fingers to drum) and that Liza can write eloquently in english.

I loved the workshop. Emotions ran freely and everytime when I was unsure if I still tapped the right rythem, I Just had to look to Evelijn and was back on track!
