If they were raised in poverty and famine they may want to grow into a fortune and have a better standard of living.

To influence someone's expectations, it's too often that people covet what they think they lack enough to be held down. This is why as someone ages and people realize what they should be able to expect to control, their expectations change. People also tend to expect what they already have, which leads to a very concentrated set of answers for what they expect - the things that drive the world being money versus contentness, especially in places where people to an extent all live the same way.

Age and parents really influence people's expectations. As you get older and you know more about life and how it's really going to be you might find that there's many things that you want to do and accomplish. Also your parents set many expectations upon you as they want you to succeed and be the best you can and sometimes be their definition of a perfect person which definitely affects what you yourself expect your life to be like.

How young you are, or how wise/ experienced you are influences your expectations. If you experience failure, you might become more realistic and have different expectations. If you haven' t been exposed to that, then you will have high expectations that will one day be knocked down by the reality of the world. It can also be from your parents/ how you were raised. Say , for example, they taught you that you cannot fail. They told you failure wasn't allowed, or they had high expectations for you. This will affect your expectations on yourself, and how you cope with failure. You become more realistic as you grow older, and grow wisdom. If your parents let you do as you wish, or do not care about your failures, they will not help you learn. You will never learn from these failures, and your expectations for yourself will be low. This will cause you to not be the best you can be, and you will never have high expectations, or high goals for yourself.

What significantly influences people's expectations could be your age and personality or even the environment you grew up in and the people you surround yourself with. Younger people tend to lean more towards the 'dream big' expectations while older and more experienced people have a more realistic approach to their expectations. Younger people ,like children, have a wild and spontaneous imagination and personality which allows them the have greater and more broad expectations, but an adult who has experienced more has a more contained imagination that doesn't allow them to get carried away with dreaming and makes their expectations more realistic.

Your parents are a prime example, because they are a lot more realistic and since they are older they have a better understanding in life. Your expectations are also best when their set by someone close to you, because they know how to push you and they can be the reason you reach that dream or accomplishment.

A person's expectations really depends on their personality and what they care about. For the most part parents play a huge role in someone's expectation. Some people do not like the way their parents treat them and learn from that so they can become a better person. Other times they want to be just like their parents because they look up to them. A persons's role model usual is the person someone wants to be like or at least have a few characteristics of that person. Society also plays a role in their expectations because they are jealous of what others have and want it for themselves. You shouldn't worry about anyone else but yourself so you will be happy and have a good life.

Some things that affect people's expectations are their education, realizations, and their upbringing. Education because when you're more educated, you can know what you know best and can expect a job or hobby that is related to it. Realizations because it helps create real goals so you do not expect to much of yourself. Upbringing because if you are always told you can do whatever you want, then you'll try to do what seems like the best option in the end rather than the best path to the results.

Through asking questions and class discussion I found that freshman thought of wealth was very important and didn't feel as if goals were important. Your goals in life will majorly impact your expectations because you are striving for your goal to become a reality. Age also is a big factor in influencing a person's expectations because the older you get, the wiser you will become and you will realize more of what your expectations should be. Experiences have a huge impact on the way people's expectations are influenced. I believe experiences do this because if you go through a really bad experience, your expectations will be to strive for a better experience. Also, if you experience something really good in your life, your expectations will be to make what happened even better.
