If you haven' t  been exposed to that, then you will have high expectations that will one day be knocked down by the reality of the world. It can also be from your parents/ how you were raised. Say , for example, they taught you that you cannot fail. They told you failure wasn't allowed, or they had high expectations for you. This will affect your expectations on yourself, and how you cope with failure. You become more realistic as  you grow older, and grow wisdom. If your parents let you do as you wish, or do not care about your failures, they will not help you learn. You will never learn from these failures, and your expectations for yourself will be low.
