Entering a museum in Baguio, which is tucked away in the Philippines' Cordillera Administrative Region, is like entering a sanctuary where time bends in on itself. After meticulously taking pictures of the exhibitions and writing insightful captions, the introspective process reveals a significant impact on my viewpoint, especially with regard to the complex fabric of regional history and culture. Instead of being static archives, the carefully chosen areas transform into lively storytellers that hum with tales of artistic expression, ancestry, and the resilient spirit of the Cordillerans.

However, the encounter with an exhibit devoted to Igorot textiles is the most vivid aspect of this imagined journey. Imagine an area where the intricate geometry of woven patterns blends with the vibrant colors of natural dyes. Imagine becoming knowledgeable about the painstaking steps involved in making these textiles, from the fiber cultivation to the sophisticated backstrap weaving methods that have been handed down through the ages. Maybe there would be a documentary highlighting the cultural significance of these materials in ceremonies, rituals, and daily life, or perhaps a demonstration by a talented weaver, their hands moving with trained grace.
