Our skill is a bicep curl. This skill is classified as a fundamental skill, and categorised as a discrete motor skill as it has a defined beginning and end. It is also a fine skill as it targets a specific muscle group (triceps/biceps). This skill would be considered closed rather than open because it completed in a predictable environment with no factors such as people or weather to change the outcome. To practice this skill, we would recommend blocked practice in sets as a part of a strength building routine. This could be done in regular short sessions to build strength in the desired muscle group. Sports that utilise this skill include football, golf, tennis or other sports requiring upper body strength. Fun fact about Lexi and Amelia: Lexi is a twin, and Amelia did not get accepted into PE 3/4 but her wellbeing person hasn't noticed yet.

Jump serve in volleyball- Ellie and Indi

This jump serve is considered sport specific, as it is used in a game of volleyball. It links to the fundamental skill of an overarm throw as it is an extension of the action.

This action is discrete as it has a clear beginning and end. It is also closed, as the individual practicing the skill is in control and there are minimal variables. It is a gross skill, as it is a big movement involving different body parts.

This skill is best practiced blocked as it is best improved through continuous practice in a specific time frame, to ensure the skill is perfected before beginning to learn others.

This skill should be trained for using distributed practice, as all players need to be able to perform the skill, therefore it requires frequent training.

The sport that uses this skill is volleyball, however, the fundamental skill of the overarm throw is also seen slightly varied in tennis and cricket.

Ellie- never broken a bone

Indi- had a pet turtle
