We talked about how structured time and a real agenda was helpful in CPT time. We also discussed how useful CPT is for talking about students that need more support, whether that's for accommodations that have proved affective or behavioral issues and if they also present the same behaviors in different classes.

Some of our best work as a department came from the time we had with Common Planning Time. We have been able to explore how we teach C.E.R. across grade levels and really scaffold the skills learned each year. We have tested out new activities and lessons and gotten feedback on how to make the lessons more efficient and engaging as well as examining the assessments created for those. We have used the Consultancy Protocol to help teachers who are experiencing difficulties in some way in their classes to explore the problem and find solutions. Go Team! Yay Science!

A welcome advantage is to be able to benefit from other teachers' experiences and perspectives.

A great idea is to create a simple agenda that can be used every week, to eliminate the burden for staff to have to spend time outside of the meeting to come up with a unique agenda each time.

CPT is a useful time for staff who don’t have other members of their department to push in to other departments’ meetings to collaborate and identify how to support their students.

In our group, we talked about how teachers do not want to make mistakes in front of their students to be seen as a person "who does not know anything" or "loses their respect due to incompetence." It was a good discussion about owning mistakes so that teachers can model empathy to others and being humble.
