Teaching designed to remove barriers to learning: 

 Ensuring that all students have access to learning opportunities is foundational. This approach prioritises removing obstacles related to disability, language barriers, socioeconomic status, and other factors that can hinder learning. I work with diverse students with different learning barriers therefore, tailoring education to meet the diverse needs of students ensures that everyone has a fair chance to succeed.

Collaboration is a key skill in the modern workforce and society, therefore, fostering teamwork helps my students develop communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills. It also promotes positive engagement and motivation. Working with peers can increase engagement and make learning more enjoyable and meaningful.

Formative assessments provide ongoing feedback, helping my students understand their progress and areas needing improvement. Summative assessments evaluate overall learning outcomes. I can then use the assessment data to inform my teaching strategies, ensuring that I can identify and address student needs effectively.

Inquiry-based learning encourages students to ask questions, explore, and think critically. This method fosters a deeper understanding and curiosity about the subject matter. It allows students to take an active role in their learning, which can increase engagement and retention of knowledge.

Emphasizing conceptual understanding over rote memorisation helps students grasp the underlying principles of a subject. This approach promotes long-term retention and the ability to apply knowledge in new situation. Understanding concepts allows students to transfer their knowledge to different contexts and problems.

Integrating local and global perspectives makes learning more relevant and meaningful. It helps students understand their place in the world and the impact of their actions.

I prioritise thinking skills because they form the foundation for all learning. Being able to think critically and analytically helps to understand complex concepts and solve problems effectively. Strong thinking skills enable my students to adapt to new situations and challenges, making them versatile learners and problem solvers, and they will be able to analyse the texts. 

Communication skills: 

Communication skills are crucial for learning to express thoughts and ideas clearly, whether in writing or speaking. This is essential for collaboration and sharing knowledge. It is important that my students have effective communication skills as it allows them to listen and understand others, which enhances my ability to learn from peers.  

Self-management skills: 

Self-management skills help my students stay organised, manage their time effectively, and set realistic goals. This is vital for independent learning and academic success and makes them take responsibility. 

Social skills: 

It is important that my students have good social skills as this promotes good communication skills, encouraging good relationships create a supportive learning environment. Working well with others enhances their ability to participate in group projects and collaborative learning activities. 

Research skills: 

Developing strong research skills enables my students to learn independently, seek out new knowledge. I rated it lower because it is more an individualised learning approach and I strongly believe in collaborative learning.
