Two Chicago schools kicked out of playoffs, suspended 3 games for post game brawl (March 13, 2015)

The playoffs are ending before they’re truly beginning for a pair of Chicago boys basketball teams who engaged in a nasty handshake line brawl during a sectional playoff game on Wednesday night.

As reported by Chicago ABC affiliate WLS and Chicago Tribune, among other outlets, North Lawndale College Prep and Marshall High were both handed three-game suspensions for their entire teams in response to a brawl that broke out between the two squads in the handshake line following North Lawndale’s 70-62 victory.

A brawl broke out Wednesday night after a boys basketball sectional playoff game at Westinghouse College Prep High School on the West Side, authorities said.

After North Lawndale defeated Marshall 70-62, words were exchanged in the postgame handshake line, which led to a fight involving the rival schools' players and fans.
