Hello, my name is Teresa Pye. I am a retired nurse of 33 years. I am the proud mother of 6 children (3 by birth and 3 by marriage). All of them are grown and on their own. My husband and I are a super blended family. We have 17 grandkids and one on the way, and we have 4 great-grandkids. I will be 60 years old on 2/12/25. My son did a photoshoot on me when I visited him and his family in California last week.

I have Systemic Lupus. I have been living with this disease for numerous years. But I'm not just surviving, I am thriving. I tell myself every day that "I have lupus, but it will never have me. I believe that if you claim defeat, you will be defeated. I refuse to be defeated. That is why I am a WARRIOR!!!

I was born and raised in Louisiana, so I am a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan. I also ride or die with my two favorite college teams: the LSU Tigers and the Grambling University Tigers. My husband is a Dallas Cowboys fan. We are a house divided in sports. But we both like the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks.

Extracurricular activities and hobbies

I used to be a linedance instructor, but I had to stop teaching because of my lupus. I still attend classes because I love to dance. It is great exercise. I also love to sing. I sing in 2 choirs at church. I am also part of the women's praise and worship team at church. I am a youth worker, and I teach youth catechism classes (which is just a fancy way of saying Sunday School). I believe that children are not the future, they are the right now.

Relaxation

The thing that relaxes me the most is when I can spend some quality time with my husband. Because we all have such busy lives, we often fail to take time for ourselves and our relationships. I'm very relaxed when I am sitting in my recliner watching TV with my hubby. We love to "Netflix and Chill". Being with him makes me feel relaxed, loved, and safe.
