Because of all the questions about space and the new studying of astronomy in Europe inventions had to be made to better study the universe. The telescope was invented by Galileo so that all astronomers could take a way closer look into space. Theories about how the solar system worked also started. Most astronomers in Europe believed in the Geo-Centric that stated the Earth was the center of the our Solar System. The main aspect of all of these civilizations that kept them going for as long as possible were it's strong armies that kept out invaders. Having the ability to defend the civilization is essential because if the civilization does not have a strong defense it is barely even going to exist at all. If these civilizations never existed it's possible that all of their innovations might never have even happened. But they did happen, because of the empire's strong armies.
