In terms of similarities there are a few, with many of the articles I had found on Pinterest also showing up on pocket. The home page for both is also fairly similar, and both use their algorithms to alert the user to posts similar to those they viewed in the past or searched for. What I found as a very underrated aspect to the interface of both was that unlike other mainstream platforms advertising was almost nowhere to be seen, which was really refreshing and made me feel much more relaxed and consistently engaged within the experiences of both. I found that Pinterest was far easier to use as a social media tool. And there is a greater emphasis on sharing with friends or family. Different users on Pinterest are also far easier to view from the offset using Pinterest, and are a forefront to the functioning of the app. Pocket had a very clean and easy/enjoyable to use interface, which for me is one of its key advantages over Pinterest. I really enjoyed the tagging element of pocket, which made organising my articles such as nature based or social, much easier. A massive advantage of pocket is that its available offline as well as online, a pioneer amongst other social media or news/book working apps and a massive advantage for its usefulness. The software screencast omatic has developed made this task refreshingly enjoyable and hands on, and allows for a wide variety of video boosting features, such as voiceover, added text, and a host of royalty free music.
