He was one of nine children! In 1909 David Uniapon invented a hand tool for sheering sheep. In the early 1920's, David Unaipon was considered the first aboriginal Australian writer, publishing Aboriginal Legends.  Without permission, the publisher,  Angus and Robertson sold the copyright of the stories to William Ramsay Smith who had published Myths and Legends of the Australian Aboriginals in 1930.  The David Unaipon Award for an Emerging Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Writer. He died on the 7 Feburary in 1967. She was a Wiradjuri Aborigine. As she grew to the age of 8, she showed interest in tennis, and started taking lessons. Evonne held the title for the no1 player in the world, and won 13 majors, and ranked 12th all time championships wins all for tennis!. In 1913 she was the first indigenous Australian woman to receive a bronze mettle for Royal Humane Society for her act of bravery. In 1917 she was the first and only indigenous Australian women to serve in WWI. She cared for injured troops on the no41 ambulance train on the way to the hospital.
