I work with a large number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds so really interested in initiatives and research in this area.

I am presenting some of the findings from my thesis tomorrow morning

I know a few researchers/practitioners working in Global South on innovative methodologies and decolonial pedagogies.

Post 92 HEIs have a student & staff demographic that is considerably more ‘diverse’: in terms of race & soc class at least.

Many of these present as ‘teaching intensive’, research is more difficult to foreground and there is definitely less fin owl resource to devote to it.

The research v teaching intensive binary seems to be strengthening. This is an effect of the current funding squeeze. Increasing diversity within the group would necessitate addressing this structural issue in my view.

The project explores the successes and challenges of the StellarHE Leadership Challenge, which supports racially diverse leaders in developing their leadership identities and influencing institutional change.

I will be interviewing Man Met StellarHE alumni, inviting them to share an artefact representing their leadership journey or Challenge project. These stories and artefacts will contribute to a developing archive that strengthens our understanding of inclusive leadership and professional practice.

The project will also extend the Racially Inclusive Practice in Assessment Guidance (RIPIAG) for staff use, supporting a structured analysis of how leadership learning, racialised experience and reflective practice shape approaches to assessment, equity and organisational culture.
