         <description><![CDATA[<div>#1 During my  elections unit students were asked to make claims and present evidence to make a better decision on the 2018 midterm election. Students were asked to present evidence in order to support their claim. The CER would have been great because it woud have helped me push students to give their reasoning. </div>]]></description>

This lesson could have been remodeled around an inquiry and students could have come up with their own claim. They could have gone further and find their own evidence and reasoning.<br><br>2.          <description><![CDATA[<div>1. In my 7th grade courses, last week we completed a writing prompt titled "Did the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments solve the problem of slavery?" Using CER strategies and structures might have seriously aided in the students ability to formulate their responses. <br>2. In my 8th grade courses, next week I am planning on introducing WW2. I could start the unit with the "Claim" portion, and pose some sort of extremist view as to how Germany should have won the war. Or, I could pose the essential question as the "Claim," and then use the following weeks to provide evidence towards the claim. </div>]]></description>
