"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." This visual of a cabin in the woods represents Thoreau's goal of "living deliberately" because of its isolation from any of the worldly engagements involved in today's society. By being away from the materialistic world, one is able to connect with his inner self in the presence of nature in order to live life to the fullest and with meaning.

The most striking element of Dead Poets Society was when Mr. Keating's students stood on their desks to support him one last time before he permanently left the school, despite the risk of getting expelled hence Mr. Nolan's angry response at their actions. The students rising above the conformity of the school system illustrates the effect Mr.Keating had on the students during his time as a teacher. It demonstrates their newly gained ability to find their voices and defend their beliefs, due to Mr. Keating's inspiration. This relates to Walt Whitman's poem Walking because Mr.Keating contributed his verse by inspiring the students to rise above the traditional customs and gain a new perspective of the society they live in.

Before reading the poem, I believed that to live with purpose, an individual must strive for personal growth through isolation from the materialistic world. However, after reading the poem I believe that living with purpose should benefit the individual and the society as a whole. Rather than only striving for personal growth, we should strive to make the world a better place, a place where we don’t have to isolate ourselves in order to grow and connect with our inner selves. The film Dead Poets Society conveys this theme of serving a purpose in the community through Mr. Keating, the literature teacher at Walten. Mr. Keating teaches his students through the power of poetry to find their voice and defend their beliefs even if they do not conform to society’s beliefs.

I believe that doctors should not only provide physical health care, but mental and emotional care as well, and should serve as a trustworthy adult that could tend to their troubles. I will be the nature to their souls, healing it and mending it to be the least troubled that it can be. I will seize every single day to ensure the care of every young person of the generation, because attention and care is what our society needs, regarding the ignorant and careless generations.

The children's book The Giving Tree represents the tenet of transcendentalism in which society and its institutions corrupt an individual's connection with nature. This is conveyed in the book through the way the boy grows up to take advantage of the tree and use it for his personal use to make money off of it, rather than use it as a tranquil place to go to like he used to as a young boy.

"To go into solitude, a man needs to retire as much from his chamber as from society". This photo of the starry night represents this quote because Emerson suggests looking at the stars rather than staying indoors because you are not truly in solitude indoors, even if you are not in the presence of anyone else. Emerson also suggests that admiring the beauty of nature requires complete solitude so that we can adore every aspect of its beauty.

It must stand as a part, and not as yet the last or highest expression of the final cause of Nature." This picture represents Emerson's claim due to its inexplicable beauty. It proves that Nature is the ultimate beauty to exist, and that the standards of beauty that man has in modern society are based on the level of beauty of nature.

This long narrow road where you can't see too far ahead represents Thoreau's quote because the "walk" that he speaks about represents a new chapter of life.
