I can not say I would go around and bad-mouth china in Hong Kong without looking behind my shoulder the entire day or hearing a knock on my door at 3 AM. The fact that they are trying to compare U.S internal issues to their issues is almost comical.

CCTV again reiterates that Hong Kong is part of China and that its affairs are China's internal affairs. I think this means mind your beeswax. CCTV goes further to say this by saying, “ stop meddling with Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs at large in whatever form."(CCTV)

-Qingming Festival is an important day for the Chinese people, and it is when people visit to honor their ancestors and national heroes. It is a perfect time for President Xi Jinping to use it as a tool to influence people to believe in his ideas and goals of China.

-CCTV reminds the audience that Xi, the President, is general secretary of China Central Committee, chairman of the Central Military Commission, breaker of chains, mother of dragons, queen of Targaryen, etc. I hope everyone got the reference I was trying to make to GOT. CCTV has made a point to remind the reader just how powerful President Xi Jinping is and should listen to what he has to say.

“The purpose of learning from the heroes is to apply their spirit in everyday work and demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility toward people's lives and safety.”(CCTV)

Things he said had me question if he remembered their heroes or tried to remind the people of China that those heroes served a greater purpose for the state’s benefit, which will benefit you. That there needs to be more heroes, and to be a hero, look at the past heroes.

“Only by respecting heroes will other heroes emerge, and only by hailing them will more appear in their place.” (CCTV) - They are pushing for more people to stand by the government because if you do, you will be a hero. It would be very manipulating if the only information received was this kind of state-run media.

I haven't found one single article with a criticism of the Chinese government. I also believe this outlet has been infiltrated by a third party other known as the government if it is not owned by the government already.

Arirang’s ideas and beliefs are pro-democracy and pop culture. When first glancing through the websites Tv, I knew what kind of topics are essential to the Arirang media. With titles of shows like Diplomat Talks, Peace & Prosperity, Peace insight, K-BIZ, it seems to be following an American news type culture.

-They also bring full-spectrum stories and show what both sides want to say for themselves.

For example,

-In the Foreign Correspondents Segment, Arirang showed neutrality and studio guest from both sides of the spectrum. They had a TASS Correspondent(Russia) and an Australian Freelance Journalist on the show talking about U.S-China relations. Doing so helps create a non-bias approach and helps guide the audience to see what both sides see and value.

In this show, the outlet Arirang showed restraint to show its own opinion; instead, they helped the audience understand the how, what, why, and the possible futures. They showed accountability and seems to be pressured by no outside source. If anyone knows history, they will understand that the U.S helped south Korea and, over time, has been influenced by U.S culture and ways.

The 30-minute segment was over the rising tensions in the Korean peninsula covers China-U.S relations, China-North Korea relations, and U.S- North Korea relations. My Theory is that they cover issues that will directly affect South Korea and its future.

Pro-Democracy

Told facts and withheld from opinion

Very formal and informational

Seem to report on topics and give a whole spectrum perspective, being American, this news is almost dull, but it is also very insightful and helps the viewer see both sides of an issue/topic.

When Comparing CCTV and Arirang TV, I saw two very different approaches to reporting on topics.

-When CCTV reported on issues and topics, they had little to no criticism towards The Chinese government, while Arirang agreed that human rights violations were happening in China.

-CCTV Discredited all information that was not from an official Chinese spokesperson.

Arirang did the opposite and brought insight and information given from both sides.

-CCTV is a weapon of manipulation for the Chinese government instead of a platform for accurate information.

Arirang is a weapon for facts and truth.

Arirang -Pro-Democracy

CCTV -Pro-government

These two outlets are very different from each other One is an extremely bias operated outlet. In contrast, the other practices ethical Journalism, and it is effortless to point out the two.
