By: Mrs. Hale

I felt as though if Mrs. Hale were to write about herself, she would talk about her position in society and what she believed. She makes many feminist remarks and is said to be "loyal to her sex" in the story. I believe she would connect this to the setting of her upbringing and how it affected her beliefs. Her background being set in a rural location is what made me choose this photo. Mrs. Hale is said to also have lived just outside the town, so I named the her story "The Lonely Road" to reference how difficult it is to be vocal about women's rights during the time and in reference to the rural location.

If Mrs. Hale were to align herself with the feminist ideologies that she claims, she would make it the center point of the book and go through how her role in domestic scenarios affected her mental health as well as the women around her. She would focus on how she would choose to live her life if it were up to her and why she believe that. Mrs. Hale throughout the story also demonstrated her wit when it came to covering up their actions in the kitchen. She was quick to come up with an excuse so as they weren't caught. Applying this knowledge to her character it can be understood that this isn't the first time she has hidden something from a man.

If the autobiography were to include the story of "Trifles" as it happened to Mrs. Hale, she would focus on the bigger picture from her standpoint. She would say it as the events occurred which to her was her looking through the kitchen and coming up with clues to loosely put together a story as evidence. She would also tell the story in a way that its her and Mrs. Peters in the good side of the story, so she could emphasize the impact the men's actions have on the women.

I chose this image because I thought she looked very stern. Throughout the play Mrs. Hale demonstrates her sincereness in the way that she behaves. She has certain beliefs that she sticks to and that comes off very direct, as she knows what she is talking about. With this information I understood that Mrs. Hale is very confident in herself. So I chose this photo because I believed that this woman looks very serious but also put together. It also matches with the time period that the story takes place.
