Fiction is a genre about anything that has not happened or is not real. Often uses elements from worlds different from our own, fantasy sci-fi.

Non-Fiction is a genre of writing based on what has actually happened based of experiences and true stories. Very grounded in reality.

Poetry can be fiction or non fiction for example Flanders fields which is based on ww1 a real event. Poetry can also be fiction as it could be speculative.

Speeches

Tend to fall into the themes of non fiction as they are mostly used to invigorate the audience and create certain emotions. How ever they can be fiction as there are speeches about the future as well as speeches within fiction stories.

Podcasts

Can fall within fiction and non fiction. They tend to fall into non fiction based on facts and stories but can also be based around fictional worlds such as LOTR and Star Wars

Short stories

They can fall within fiction and non fiction but usually tend to fall into fiction as they are based on imagined stories that did not happen.

Writing about the future could be fiction or non fiction today I'm going to chose fiction.

My hope for the future is

If I could change anything about the future it would be the ability to fully control the human body and the DNA that makes it up. Genes that cause genetic disabilities such as alzheimers and blindness would be eradicated. The quality of life for everyone would be greatly improved as everyone's immune system would be much stronger to fight common illnesses. Humans would be able to control the release of hormones from the brain helping to prevent conditions such as depression and obesity.

Medical/Medicine-technology-advancements

Advancements in technology means there have been developments in medicine. What are both the positives/advantages+negatives/disadvantages.

Negatives include the creation of medical debt that makes people work themselves into the ground possible causing an early grave. Less jobs, over reliance on technology, more pollution in the world,

Decrease childhood mortality. Extends how long people can work. Increasing quality of life. Allows the inventors to support their family. Reduce risk of cancer. Increase efficiency less mistakes, higher life expectancy, immunity to viruses, no human error, decreased childhood mortality

Cool down

It is 2078, and as I look back to my past my regrets include not promoting my children to get technology based jobs. My children spent a lot of time searching for jobs once their current manufacturing jobs became irrelevant. My grandchildren suffered because of this. My job was always secure but because of ai and they change in jobs my children were pushed out of the workplace. They didn't have any education in technology and were left in the past due to my decision.

How does the Author Shirley Jackson capture the readers/audience attention-entices the audience to want to read more.

The author uses mysterious and unanswered questions to draw the audiences attention and make them want to read more

The children participate in the lottery because it is exciting, is different from normal life, is socially excepted and they don't understand the finality in death.

No one protests the lottery because it has been going on for their whole lives and is socially expectable. The deep rooted misogyny ingrained into their societal norms suppresses the under-utilised and marginalised women in this society. The women don't have a voice to use in their society and the males feel it is their responsibility to exact this ancient tradition.

I was deeply surprised in the brutality of the ending in the way the towns people including the youngest children stone one of their own to death in order to furfill tradition. Early on I knew the lottery was an ominous omen in the writing style and the anxiety it caused for the towns people. I knew someone was going to die but I thought it would be more humane.
