Mrs. Stevenson and team worked together to figure out details to change and update the lessons by decomposing sets of 5 or 10 using a 10 frame or visual aid. The lesson was revised by following the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. The lessonw as taught by discussing pets at a pet store. The students had to make a ten frame by using the number of pets at the pet store. *The examples given were a verticle and horizontal ten frame chart. The students used the practice Constructvible agruments and critique reasoning with others. They put all their document information into a file and called it "Transformation Reflections." This is a good way to get the students involved, but unless you have a lot of examples you will be giving then not everyone will get to use the smartboard. bngeohagan https://padlet.com/bngeohagan/nu9nqpeetb55/wish/179664909 One additional strategy I would use would be a rubric. Even with little ones a rubric can clearly outline the expectations. A rubric for littles could include pictures, etc instead of a lot of words. Another thing could be using "Rote Visualiation." This strategy is by using dry earse markers and an erasable paper. This allows them to see the break down of how many tens and how many ones to make the frame.
