1. Deviance behavior is unethical behavior that is not illegal, like littering and smoking in public; crime is an evil act that breaks the law

2. （1）Functionalism argues that:• Crime / deviance is universal in that it exists in all known societies – it is normal • As crime / deviance is normal, it performs necessary functions in society – it helps to maintain social stability

（2）Interactionists believe that people behave according to their interpretations and meanings assigned to the world around them

（3）Conflict theory suggests that people actively choose to engage in deviance behaviour as a response to the inequalities of the capitalist system.

3. Deviance refers to rule-breaking behaviour of some kind which fails to conform to the norms and expectations of a particular society or social group.

Deviance is closely related to the concept of crime, which is law breaking behaviour. Criminal behaviour is usually deviant, but not all deviant behaviour is criminal.

1. Non-conformity to well social and cultural norms and ideals is referred to as deviance. Any illegal act or omission that corresponds to a breach of the law, which is frequently prosecuted by the state and penalized by law, is referred to as a crime.
2. According to functionalist theory, society is essentially made up of social institutions, each of which is created to meet a certain need and has its own set of repercussions for the form and structure of society.
3. Interaction theory is a way of looking at social cognition, or how people understand each other, that refers to physical behaviors and circumstances rather than thought patterns.
4. Conflict theory, first proposed by Karl Marx, holds that society is perpetually in conflict due to struggle for limited resources. Dominance and power, rather than consensus and compliance, are said to maintain public order in conflict perspective.
