<title>Family Text Set by Veronica Schmidt</title>
      <link>https://padlet.com/vschmidt650/familytextset</link>
<description>The theme of my text set is family. Each text focuses on different types of families from various types of family structures, lifestyles, ethnicities, parental arrangements, and socio-economic statuses. The texts all portray the families’ differences positively and take an asset perspective of each type of family. An overarching theme that can also be found in each of the books in the set is love. Each family has so much love to share no matter how big, small, rich, poor, black or white. Many of the types of families represented in the text set are ones that many children can easily relate too. Many students may have divorced, same-sex, or interracial parents, or come from different cultures or socio-economic backgrounds. It is important for every student to be represented in the classroom and to provide students with opportunities to learn. The texts can give students an opportunity for students to learn about those different from themselves and become more accepting of those differences. I believe that including texts like these in the classroom can help students to feel more comfortable, welcome, and accepted. By Veronica Schmidt</description>
