According to Nursing Process (2022), the average starting pay for a new graduate nurse practitioner is $46.08 per hour, $7,990 monthly, and $95,850 yearly.
With the drastic inflation of 8.2%, a 8% pay increase to not even meet demands of inflation, would come to a yearly salary of $103,518.00. My desired salary is mainly based off of cost of living. Nurse practitioners are held to a substantial standard of care for the responsibility and liability they manage. In no way do I want to discredit physicians, but respectfully nurse practitioners are able to perform similar duties to physicians. If we are also able to diagnose, manage, and treat patients (and especially practicing independently in Arizona) I believe $103,000 annually is a realistic salary for a new graduate nurse practitioner. Nurse practitioners not only have years of schooling, but years of clinical experience as well that should not be discredited for.
