Today, I entered two classes: One hour teaching session and a relief teaching session. The usual morning assembly was scuttled because of the mentor-mentee program, but otherwise it went on like clockwork. In 3S, I covered the future perfect tense by explaining how it is used, examples of its formulas, and how it can be used in a sentence. The students were active and participated in the learning process as well as I noticed they go through all worksheets In gave them. I was so thankful, especially that my mentor had prepared me of the fact that the class had been impolite to the previous practicum teacher. To my greatest amazement the teacher was one of us from this university, an experience which came as a shock to me.

In the second class I took over a two periods relief session with 4K4 as my learners. I was able to identify with one specific student as I observed him giving what seemed to be an overly anxious look at the reading. He asked me several questions about my position as a practicum teacher he wondered about which classes I teach. He then asked if he could surf YouTube because he wanted to watch educational videos; since he was through with his homework, I permitted him to use my iPad for about 30 minutes. The other learners were busy on their writing tasks, without any disturbance at all. At the end of the class, the student said that he hoped I to be be successful and get what I desire in life. I actually felt so good when he said such things about me.

This experience taught me a valuable lesson: compassion to students goes a long way, or we are unaware of what difficulties they might be experiencing in their lives. 🥹

Today, I entered class 3K and delivered the same topic as had been taught in the previous class 3S. The students shown high interest towards the lesson, they were active listeners and engage in the class. I was explaining to them as they were filling the worksheet, making sure they were following what had been covered. Thus, we finished the class in strict accordance with the schedule, it was a coherent and perfect class.

At 11.10 a.m., For two periods, I was given a relief class. Specifically, the subject teacher asked me to lead the group in doing their homework assignments that were due for submission that day. Not to my surprise all the students displayed a lot of concentration and involvement in their work. I love it when this happens—Calm environment, everyone focused on a task and the silence as they solved the chores on their assignment.

Today I attended two classes, my teaching class and a period that involved relieving another class. In my 3K class, I explained the future continuous tense, the place of the tense in speaking and writing, formation of tense and its application in examples. Generally, the students welcomed me politely as is always the norm in their class and the entire class proceeded without incident or event.

During the relief period at 12:15 p.m., I let the students to sort their homework using noise level, allowing only whispering. With the remaining time of the day till they have to punch off at 3 in the afternoon. This made a good chance for me to develop my lesson plans as well as the relevant resources for my classes.

On Friday, classes that I normally teach were not available so, as usual, I was given a relief class: 3L for two periods, but at different times. To me it was my first time to encounter the scenario whereby I entered the same class at two different occasions. I put the students on their homework noting how much they have to finish. And that’s it with the fourth week in my internship!
