In the Netherlands the collection of waste is different per city. In Leiden for instance, one can throw everything in one bin, whereas the municipality will seperate everything. There is a big difference in the waste collection for every municipality.

In India a lot of waste is dumped on empty land, this is called landfill. This results in waste mountains.

Most trash in India is not segregated.

40-50 percent of all waste will be recycled, definitely not more than 50%. This is a hot topic in the Netherlands, since this is making the fashion industry the second most polluting industry in the world, after oil.

This is a problem on the young generation. 

This problem is that not that big in India, over in India, people use clothing longer.

Thrift shops for clothing are also bigger in India than they are in the Netherlands.

The idea of using clothes and after a short time being thrown out, is just not there in India. They re-use until the clothes fall apart, or use them as towels for in the kitchen. 

The price of clothing is different for India and the Netherlands. In India one can get a shirt for around 100 roepies, just under a dollar. In the Netherlands a shirt will be close to 5 dollars.

In the Netherlands the fashion trends are really fluent. Some clothing stores have up to 24 collections every year, also producing a lot of waste. People in the Netherlands are sensitive to fashion changes.
Also, fashion differs in certain groups of people. People really express theirselves in their clothing (see picture)

But, also in India the social media influencers have an increasing effect on the fashion trends.
