It upholds different cultures, lifestyles, and ideology that signifies the whole society that differs to other. Society may classify as anthropological, sociological, and political. But it may be differ according to what the constant social actions that people opt to do. 

As time goes by, it changes and evolve through time as to what the community needs and demands. It comes from the Latin word "educo, as, are" which means "lead out of, to bring forward". Some researchers doesn't know what came up first but as for many, education is the key for building new and enhance society by producing people that can contribute to the constant moving of the society as to what the global demands. Education is responsible for the systematic transmission of knowledge, skills and cultural values within a formally organized structured. It encompasses the society's values and norms that people should have in order to contribute on the society.

Education also has different functions in accordance to what is their main function and to the extent the real goal of the education and school. 

1. Education as System - It is the process of continuous and systematic functions to provide better results in producing predictable and more efficient. It has different sections working together synchronously to create and process students that supplies the demand of the new and constant society. In short term, Education has a basic concept of serving vital purpose in a society as socialization, adaptation, integration.

2. National Education - It consist of different society education or nation. It operates as a system with structure, function and principles. National Education mirror whole country by covering overall education system inside of it. As the society changes, the education also evolve as by the governmental structure stated based on the needs and demands of the constant evolution of society.

Purpose of Education

Social Purpose
  • It serves various social, economic and political purposes.
  • It aims to instill social, religious and cultural values that people inside the society must have.
  • It teaches the students to learn to contribute, to be a citizen and resident that they need to pass from one generation to other generation.
  • It helps ensure that individuals are raised, trained, and utilized appropriately as member of the society.

Economic Purpose
  • It helps the society to increase the wealth of a nation-state, foster innovation and facilitate development and progress.
  • Transmission of knowledge, national workforce development and global competitiveness.

Political Purpose
  • It provides vision to the new generation to visual the society to create new leaders that manifest the values and knowledge to be a great leader.
  • It trains the people to  be a great leader and someday be a leader of the society.
  • Education can facilitate social change through education for social and restorative  justice, education for liberation, education for peace and conflict resolution, and education for civil/human rights.

As the technology and the 5nternet become profound in the society, all around the globe, internet is very necessity for individual to do communication as main part of socialization and competitiveness to other society. Because of that, Education switch to what is the trend and maximize the technology and internet, it uses internet and make use of the new technology.

Education produces intellectual people that can contribute to the society and later, pass this to other generation.

But because of the changes, passing the knowledge and values are more convenient as the internet and technology arise. Computers and Artificial Intelligence replaces traditional teaching strategies and sometimes teacher also. Most of the teacher provide the necessary resources to the students by the use of cloud storage and is accessible from anywhere as long as the gadget is connected to the internet. This is what the new revolution brought to education. It provides faster and convenient way to learn whether the student is at home or in school, still learning takes place as the lesson are in the web. 

But if there are good sides of the revolution, there are some controversies and issues regrading the Fourth Indrustrial Revolution brought by the constant evolution. 

The Challenges and Controversies of Fourth Industrial Revolution
  • Manpower displaces as the machine and computer takes over their job.
  • Concerning to the job vacancies shorter because technologies takeover the job spots.
  • Inequality in labor market.
  • Security issues as the WWW (World Wide Web) can be hack and bypass security to gain personal information of the user.

Education 4.0 Challenges

Since the students are now opt to use digital and technologies to learn, attention spans shortens as the use of gadgets sometimes focuses on entertainment purposes only. By means of balancing physical health and intellectual capacity, students are sometimes physically not oriented as they are only sitting and looking through the monitor the whole time. Schools that produces students and people in the society can instill new skills and knowledge but may abstain physical health complications.

Overall, between the cons and pros of the evolution in the society, there are lots new opportunities based on the new skills and knowledge appropriately for the new society.

Many sociologist such as Emile Durheim, Karl Marx, and Pierre Bourdieu sees some perspective of the society based on how they research and it differs to each society that has been included in the country.

With this different perspectives and theory, it will help us to know on how we perceive inside the classroom and how it affects the understanding and perspective of a teacher or an individual inside and outside school.

All the theories have cons and pros that we need to know in order for us to know what is the suitable perspective we can use in different perspective.

Example is the Functionalism, it only sees the classroom as a whole, not addressing each individual struggles and weaknesses. In classroom management, teacher should know how to address each students he or she handles. But sometimes, being a functionalist teacher have positive impact in terms of recognitions, knowing the concern for the greater good and no one will left behind inside the classroom.

Other is the Interactionism that does the job focusing on each individual's need and understanding their wants in order to learn through the classroom expectedly to participate adequate. 

No matter what perspective or theories you will use, you should know how to contextualize the situation and perform it well inside the classroom. Society influences education both positively and negatively and it plays an important role. 

·      Social inequalities and unhealthy educational practices are some of the negative influences of society on our lives. 
·      Customs and traditions that prevent certain sections of society from exercising their fundamental rights shatter the basic ideas of education and social awareness. 
·      Some social groups deny women’s right to education, some force children to work, depriving them of educational opportunities, and some fail to provide individuals with an environment conducive to their overall development.

Education is one of the basic human rights. If social norms deprive certain strata of society of progressing in life and come in the way of social welfare, it defeats the purpose of education.
