Hello, I’m Antonella and I teach English in a Vocational school in a little village in the south of Italy.I live in Fontanarosa, a village in the province of Avellino and the video shows the place where I live and how we celebrate Virgin Mary. This particular moment is called “La Tirata” (that is pulling the obelisk by the oxen) and takes place each year on the 14th of August.

I work in a vocational school, specifically, in a Catering and Hotel management School. Lots of us know that competences were firstly developed in vocational schools and, consequently, we are supposed to have a great experience about it, that is to say in implementing competences in school teaching. However, even though many things had been done I do really believe, so far, that we should have done more.
I do believe that teachers strongly need to be supported. Need to be trained and never stop learning. It is not an easier task. Everyday is a challenge!

“Teaching needs to be both learner and teacher led. Activities need to be supported by guidance and explicit instruction from the teacher. Learners need support to develop their abilitiy to learn independently; also known as the “learning to learn” competence”.
