This source focuses on the damage that the coast of Kauai endured during the 2018 floods and heavy rains. Millions of dollars were put into funding the rebuilding of the coast to ensure that it can go back to what it was before. Along with this, it sheds light on the problem of tourism and how visitor numbers escalating could lead to the destruction as a whole. It was designed to preserve the sustainability of nearshore ocean resources while supporting the Hā‘ena ahupua'a consumption demands through community-based management that is founded in culture. Specific fisheries restrictions for the Hā‘ena nearshore area were part of the CBSFA designation, and the DLNR was required to carry out an evaluation at the five-year mark to assess the CBSFA's efficacy, make any necessary revisions to the management plan, and determine whether the CBSFA should be expanded. It was pretty historical that Hāʻena was the first CBFSA so including this will be very beneficial.

The North Shore community's residents are all too familiar with the devastating effects of extreme weather. People who have experienced storms in the past say they become anxious when it rains a lot.
