Here is an example:  Let's say in my 21st Century school I want to create a machine that detects COVID upon entering the building.  Well, I will connect my solar powered circuit to several light bulbs to create a machine (that looks like a metal detector) that scans people for COVID who are walking through the front door of the school as they enter the building.  Of course, the COVID detecting machine doesn't have to really detect a virus but your lights and circuit DO really have to work.  YOU CAN'T USE MY EXAMPLE BY THE WAY, lol.  That was just to give you an idea of how creative you can be.  Remember, the more creative your idea the better your overall score.  ]]> 2021-02-20 23:17:53 UTC https://padlet.com/fstonladder1/ntmox19xmkaqafex/wish/1222189210 What is the creativity and research challenge? fstonladder1 https://padlet.com/fstonladder1/ntmox19xmkaqafex/wish/1222190907 Teams will select an El Paso person to name their newly built 21st Century school after.  Additionally, they will need to select a school mascot and colors and then justify each of their selections in a 1-2-page typed report to be submitted along with a front view or an aerial image of the school.
Hint:  this CREATIVE info should be backed with facts either from the historical videos or from your own research about El Paso's history.

2. Read Step 6 in your Engineering notebook. Each person will create a video presentation explaining what it is (the purpose of the room) and how it works (trace your circuit).  Your video must be between 1-3 min.   

3. Write one paragraph summarizing your presentation and turn it in ALONG with your video.

1. Screen shot of the 3-D drawing of the front OR top view of your school.  One person may use TinkerCAD to put all 4 rooms together to create a 3-D model.  Hand drawn sketches are also acceptable. Don't forget to include the school's name, mascot, and colors. 
2.  Typed report 1-2 pages 12 pt font-Justify 5 historical reasons for naming the school after the person your team selected.  Justify 3 CREATIVE reasons why the mascot and specific colors were selected. (Hint:  this CREATIVE info should be backed with facts either from the historical videos or from your own research about El Paso's history).   
3.  Discuss in detail the energy saving features in the school.
