The dim lighting denotes that the room has a bad past or memories and a small shimmer of light, presented as hope is waiting for her in the near future. The mother is dressed in all black clothing and has her hair behind her ears, connoting strength and in-dependency as we see no male farther figure in the picture as this point. Yet she is also somewhat vulnerable as she is scared to be in the “Panic room” with the door closed even though she is safe from harm.
