The example in the beginning about going to the doctor really solidified why this is necessary for our students. When students make progress in their work and begin earning better scores, those previous score are still weighing them down and do not show their true ability.

His introduction about getting a grade from a doctors office is actually kind of how I'd prefer my doctor appointment to go. (My last visit my doctor gave me a C+).

I think there can be value in allowing a professional (doctor, teacher) to take all the information and distill it into a more manageablechunk

The process criteria is close to what the non-academic standards we are doing now, as well as progress showing the students improving or needing more time to improve. turning in assignments and class participation

question- getting used to the form of grading, will I grade more work to see if students meet the standards or less

As a parent, I would've appreciated this. I often found my son's adhd affecting his grades (handing in assignments on time, responsibility, etc) instead of it being a true reflection of his knowledge,
