THIS IS THE BEST! This website has so many games and lessons to give you a better understanding and make concepts relatable to kids. The games were always a big hit and helped me in explaining Catholic teaching to kids. There are a lot of ads you have to work through but it's WORTH it!

Would You Rather...

Great for icebreakers and to get kids talking to each other. Sometimes I would make them stand up and walk to either side of the room based on their answer and then they had to explain why they chose their option to a partner. I would also share my answer or make them guess. (They want to get to know you too)

Teachers pay Teachers is a great resource where you can find many free activities or larger packs that you have to purchase. They can range in price from a few dollars to much more. I don't tend to purchase anything over 5$ unless I really like it and it has several things I can use.

4 Corners

This is a sort, but can be used as a whole group activity or small group activity. I wouldn't suggest having each kiddo complete it, but allow them to work in groups or do it as a class. I hung the 4 words in the 4 corners and read the sentences then had students go stand in the corner they thought was correct. We then talked about why their choice was or was not correct and they were able to laugh at their mistakes.

Sketch to Stretch

This is a strategy I use all the time in my classroom. You use either a text or a video to have students make a quick sketch as you read or watch something. The idea is not to make an artistic materpiece but to be able to use a quick sketch to help you stretch your thinking and understanding. This particular activity is for Genesis 1 and the Creation story, but can work for other bible stories or things you want kids to remember.

Bible Scavenger Hunt

You will find that most of your kiddos don't know how to read the bible or find chapters and verses. This is a great way to get them digging around to familiarize themselves with how to locate things in their Bibles.

Prayer Journals

I bought small 30 page journals from Walmart last year and gave one to each student. I purchased colored pens and let them choose a color to keep for their writing. I also got stickers (faith based, sports, flowers, etc.) and let them use markers to decorate the covers. We then practiced the steps of Lectio Divina.
