Therefore you are to tie me up, tight as a splint, erect along the mast, lashed to the mast, and if I shout and beg to be untied, take more turns of the rope to muffle me" (Homer 1005).
Being told what to do isn't always a bad thing.

Odysseus' men were into danger out at sea, but he gave all orders to continue sailing. Eventually Odysseus didn't say anything because he didn't want to scare any crew members. Charybdis was very hungry but ended up vomiting into the sea. A rapid storm was at their feet when water was swallowed and created a whirlpool. 6 men got thrown from the ship. Fish was caught and eaten by members on the ship.
Quote:" My men all blanched against the gloom, our eyes were fixed upon that yawning mouth in fear of being devoured." (Homer 1009-1010)
You can't take away the nervousness of the massacre in front of you.
