Climate Change – the humanities greatest challenge. And hopefully not the last.

The humanity is scarifying the planet. Or in other words: its own basis of life. It might sound crazy but in the way we treat the environment at the moment and in past years, we fight our own existence.
In a study that was published by Greenpeace about five years ago, experts agreed on the calculation that the warming had to be stopped until 2020 to have an optimistic chance. Otherwise more and more chain reactions would start and make the change with the time biological impossible.
In a few days, 2020 will be over. The earth warming is far away from being regulated to less than 2 degrees. Originally, 1.5 degrees was set as a last goal. When the "Paris Agreement" took place in 2015, the participants already knew, that this target was unreachable, so they put it up to 2.0.
If we also miss this "last chance", there could be about 200 million climate refugees one day. This figure is hard to imagine: 200.000.000.
Our probability to provide this scenario is 50/50. Whoever did coin toss knows what we are confronted with.

Facts don't lie: The Earth is getting warmer. And warmer and warmer. If there won't be rapid changes within the next 10 years this world will be doomed. This scenario is hard to imagine, in our world where everything is possible. But it is as simple as alarming: If the earth's warming won't be regulated to 2 degrees, this planet will burn like a dry piece of wood. Famines and Culture Clashes will make the world go down in military conflicts and great wars. Not in one hundred years, but early enough. It's kind of ironic, that this development has to be stopped by us. Even if we will be dead then, no doubt. But maybe this is exactly the problem: The humanities idleness.

In 2015, the United Nations set themselves a goal: regulating the global warming to a maximum of 2 degrees. No less.
But what if they (or better: we) won't succeed? A fictional short story.

You're waking up on a Tuesday morning and you can't sleep. Not because of any school tests or other worries. The education system has already been shut down. No, you can't sleep any longer because it way to warm and puddle of sweat is rolling down your cheek. After you put together your whole strength, you switch on the TV in the living room. "The President of the United States does not show regret after his bomb attack on the Spain country. He justifies his acting by saying that the attack was a simple consequence of the governments statement to deny harvest taxes." Nothing new. You turn the TV off and go downstairs for some breakfast. On the kitchen table you find a message of your mum, who already left for work. "Don't eat more than one bread please, the will distribute new food not until Friday", she wrote down.

Economy means a guarantee of prosperity to us. We're living in abundance because of our industrial strength.
But while producing cars, furniture and other products, the wastage of resources can not be avoided. This is what sustainability makes so hard. Economy and ecology seem to be extreme contradictions, like North and South. But is this conflict really unsolvable?
Today we can differentiate between to forms of economic growth: quantitative and qualitative.
Quantitative growth is only about mass and producing as much as possible in a short period of time. Doing this, great sales can be created and shareholders profit a lot. But this kind of production depends on a the massive use of natural resources.
Qualitative growth means a compromise between economy and ecology. Instead of producing high numbers of goods, they are more durable ans sustainable. These products might me more expansive but the price-performance ratio stays constant. For example, VW could stop selling Diesel engine cars and focus on e-mobility instead.

The "Earth Overshoot Day" was established by the "Global Footprint Network" to calculate the day on which humanity's resource consumption for the year exceeds earth's capacity to regenerate those resources that year.
In 2020 this day took place on 22nd August. This date leaves no doubt: We are living extremely beyond our means. Those kinds of statistics are also published to measure up the "ecologic footprint" of single countries. While taking a look at the ranking from 2019, we have to notice: Germany is among the "Top 5" dirtiest nations. If all people lived like us, would need three earths to "finance" our dirty lifestyle. We should not forget about the fact, that those statistics should be evaluated in knowledge of the relation to the population. But there is enough change to be implemented.

Climate change is a really dangerous aspekt of our current generation. Everybody knows that. Presidents (at least some of them), Politicians and citisens of all countries. But it still seems like there is nothing really getting done. The climate changes rappidly and evolves into a more serious problem than it is right now. But how can we as a WORLD and as a single individual, stop this ginormous tzunami. Here are some ideas.

worst case szenario - AMOC shut down.

The fact that the earth is getting hotter and hotter does not really bother our planet to much. We are the problem. If the earth gets to hot there will be an ice age. We can't explain that without getting into too much physics. For short: ( AMOC: Atlantic Meridionial Overturning Circulation) AMOC is the underwater traveling path of water coming from the gulf of mexico etc. Worm water comes to Europe and heats the continent. Thats why New York is much less hot than Madrid. (They are on the same line paralell to the equator) When the water evaporates the salt stays in the water making it more salty and more dense. This stops the AMOC which leads to a giant burger. The buns are frozen and the pettie will be more hot than it already is.
