Bumper Sticker

I choose this bumper sticker because it really spoke to me. It's very eye catching. Just by looking at it you can tell that all the letters are different and each letter represents each individual in our world which I found extremely interesting. Then to go with this bumper sticker I choose lyrics from one of my new favorite songs. I heard it a few days ago on KLOVE its called We All Bleed The Same. And the set of lyrics I choose to go with my bumper sticker states, "if we are fighting, lets fight for each other." And every time I hear this song it encourages me to make a difference and spread equality in everyday life. It really makes me think if we all bleed the same why do we cause so many more problems on this world when there are already terrible things hat happen such as diseases, natural disasters, ext. that are just completely out of our control.

As Stella stated, “we are more disabled by society than our bodies.”(Young) Meaning that if society wouldn't draw so much attention to the people that may take longer to reach the destination to or may need some more assistance getting to the finish line. Then maybe we would really live in a world of Neurodiversity. Like Armstrong stated, “there is NO “TYPICAL” mental capacity- NO “NORMAL” brain to which all other brains are compared.”(Armstrong 2012) So, what gives us the right to go around stating only what we see and based upon things that were already taught to us and automatically make an assumption about someone without even being considerate of willing to learn or ask questions about the specific person or disability that person may have.

These were two very different Islands for immigration. Ellis Island was one of the first immigration stations and the most harsh thing that they did to immigrants were inspections, and if they didn't pass the inspections than they were sent back home sometimes resulting in separation from their families. However, Angel Island was not so Angle like, is was a lot harder to get past immigration most of the time you had to have parents who were already in the US which they considered paper family's. And if you didn't have that then you just had to wait. Which resulted in people lying and getting their selves into trouble. And as for the Asians they were locked away and kept in cages like zoo animals, lucky to get pass immigration.

Three things teachers must know:
1. First students most likely speak a different language at home. So instead of trying to change their language try to widen their vocabulary.
2. Second communication to parents and families will always be a challenge so dont get frustrated.
3. Third always try to make sure the child understands the new concept before moving on to the next.
Three promising practices:
1. First making sure that the child is well fed providing them with free breakfast and lunch ensures that they will not starve.
2. Second provide weather permitting clothes as well as size permitting clothes to students who come to school uncomfortable so that they can concentrate better.
3. Third dont draw personal attention to any certain student. Realize that this may be a challenge but sometimes there is just nothing you can do about it.
Reflection
I believe immigration is constantly changing everyday. However even though i am not against immigration I do believe that we as Americans could do a little bit more to ensure that we are not always setting immigrants up for failure. maybe instead of making them take a quiz offer them a tutor to first learn the language, as well as instead of scaring them away just because we have premiered stereotypes put everything behind us and give everyone a fresh clean slate. I believe this will help me in the professional world because every year i will get a new batch of students and i can not judge all of my students who may be immigrants on my first experience.
