Gardens are often found to represent growth, fertility, and the passage of time. They also are often symbolically places of calm, and are separated from outside distraction or evil. Being thrown out of a garden represents chaos and sin.

Garden of Eden- Christianity

In Christianity, one of the most important gardens in the scriptures is the garden of Eden. It is the garden that Adam and Eden lived in before being tempted by the snake (satan) to eat the fruit that god told them not to. This garden symbolizes youth and innocence. It also represents the passage of time, being the place that Adam and Eve stayed before time had even really started. There was no growth and no sadness. When they sinned and were thrown out, it started the passage of time and the start of the journey of man.

Zen garden

Zen gardens are part of Buddhist practice, representing relaxation, meditation and contemplation. The sand or gravel used throughout the garden represents fluidity, change, and the passage of time, mirroring water or the ocean. They are often used as places for Buddhist monks to practice meditating.

The Golden Apples of the Hesperides garden bear a striking resemblance to the Golden Apples present in Norse mythology. The apples in both cases are solid gold, beautiful to behold, and grant immortality. It also represents the passage of time, growing apples that grant immortality to fully experience the passage of time.

Since ancient days, and in many religions, trees have been used to represent life, growth, wisdom, prosperity. They have been used to represent reaching heaven after the long and treacherous path of life, as well as places where wisdom prospers (Buddha attaining enlightenment) (also could be connected with Sir Issac Newton's discovery of gravity while seeing an apple fall from a tree)

Tree of Lehi's dream (Mormon)

In the Mormon religion, Nephi’s father, Lehi, dreamed of a tree with bright white fruit on it, along with a bar for the people to hold onto, as the path to the tree was dark and treacherous. This tree represents life after death, and heaven, with the path leading up being life and the bar being the scripture. There is a great and spacious building to the side, which many people let go of the bar to go to. This represents people falling away from God and going to hell

For many, the most symbolic aspect of a mountain is the peak because it is believed that it is closest to heaven or other religious realms. Mountains are believed to be a cosmic axis linking heaven and earth and providing “order” to the universe. Due to this, I believe that mountains represent ascension and the closest man could get to God, as well as communication between God and man.
