1)      Cell phones should be allowed in school is the most important for me because I am a kid and don’t have very many responsibilities to handle so the other topics don’t affect me. Also, if I didn’t have my phone in class and something happened to a family member or a friend I wouldn’t know as I wouldn’t have my phone. This tells me that I value socialization and family as my phone lets be socialize and contact my family if needed.

 

2)      In the world the three main things that I value are family, friends, and education. First, I value family because they are always there for me for the rest of my life if I ever need anything. Also, they know and teach me the structures I need t know as I grow up and start a family of my own. Second, I value friends because they are almost like a second family and are in some situations. You can also trust your friends with info you don’t feel comfortable sharing with your family. Lastly, I value education as it allows me to get career to start a family of my own and support them. This shapes the way I think by allowing me to have different sources of trust with my family and my friends and also gives me a good perspective on how I would like to be when I am older with my education. 

 

 

3)      Some people that have had competing values that lead to conflict is the leader of North Korea and the leader of the U.S.A as they don’t believe in the same beliefs which is on the brink of starting a war. To solve a conflict started by different values you have to be able to understand the other sides beliefs for you to be able to understand them. 

2.       I value my family first. They are always going to be there for me through thick and thin. I think it affects me by making me enjoy my time with my family.

3.       I cant think of people who have different values but I think a way we can help them avoid conflict is we can help them understand the other person value. Another way is to stay away from the people’s values you don’t like and not fight with them.

I don’t think abortions should be allowed in Canada because when you have abortions, you are killing someone in the process because all life is precious.

This has changed the way I look at the world because I know wherever I am I always have the to count on.

3.     Some people that have competing different values are the north Korean president and south Korean president they don’t believe in the same rights for the people of their country. 

 

2.I value a lot of things in the world-family, friends, school, doing what I love, etc. I think this shapes me into not understanding how hard life is for some people. Canada is a free place with many rights and fairness all over. Me having access to school and food and family makes me almost believe that everywhere in the world is like this when in reality, it’s not. I don’t think this is necessarily a good thing but as I grow and learn, I’m starting to realize how harsh life is for some people.

 

3. Something that comes to mind about people having competing values is the level of education. I imagine the rivalry between Dakota Collegiate and Glenlawn. There has been lots of controversy over the past few years debating which school is “better.” Even names like “Dirty Dak” and “Greasy Glen” have been put out there because Lancers just don’t like lions, and vice versa. The conflict isn’t exactly a huge deal and isn’t taken seriously but it is still there and a way we can help people with differing values live peacefully is by just saying both schools are equal (but we all know Dakota is betterJ.)

1)      The topic that means the most to me is number nine, because women who are pregnant should have the choice to have the baby or not. If carrying the baby to term would harm the mother ir doesn’t make sense, yes you are “killing” the child but its life is not more important then the mothers. It shows that I care about being able to have a choice about what I want to do with my body and care about women’s rights. 

2)      The things I value most would be my family, school/education, sports and friends. These values shape how I see the world by how my family is always there for me and wants me to always do my best, so in turn i encourage others to also do their best. Education is also important to my family, so it is important for me to do well in school. 

3)      An example of people having competing values which creates conflict is how some people think that pineapple on pizza is good, and others think its disgusting. Its impossible to prove which group of people is right and which is wrong. So a way to help resolve the conflict is to try and get both sides to see the others point of view.

     Ans: Out if the above topic I believe that death penalty should not be used in Canada to punish people who commit serious crimes. I mainly believe that this should not be used because we should have the power to determine weather anyone lives or die because we are not God and killing someone because they committed a serious crime doesn’t make us any better than them. What this tells me about my values is that I do not believe that anyone should be murdered all because they did something bad.

      Ans: My values in the world are Faith, Family, School, Friends. These believes help shape me to what is happening in the world because I know that no matter what is going on in the world I will still have all these things with me. No matter what happens in the world I will always have my Faith(God) with me, I will always have my Family, I will always have the things I learn at school with me even after i’m no longer at school, and I will always have my true friends with me no matter what.

       Ans: Example of people have competing values would be people who believe in science and people who believe in God. I think all we can do to help people with different believe is to respect their believe and not disrespect their believe. 

1.Out of all the topics, the most important one to me is fast food should have an extra tax on it to help pay for healthcare.  Health is very important to me and I don’t often have fast food.  It always bugs me when I see people having fast food, because I know the health risks it causes.  People who eat a lot of fast food often wonder why they don’t have very good health.  They don’t realise by having fast food, they are exposing themselves to all kinds of health risks.  Also, fast food is taking a lot of money out of our healthcare, because they must care for the people who have suffered the consequences of fast food.  By adding a tax to fast food, our healthcare will have enough money to care for everybody, including those people who have suffered the consequences of fast food.  

2.The thing that I value most in the world is family, school, and sports.  These topics all affect me, but some affect me more than others.  The one that affects me the most is family.  Family is the most important thing to me, so when I see in the news that they are adding something that will affect my family and other peoples’ families I get really frustrated. Another topic that affects me is school. Whenever I see in the news that the government is making payment cuts for schools I get mad.  Sports are also something that I value, so when I see that some athlete is cheating or using performance-enhancing drugs, I get particularly mad at them.  

 

3.When I think of people competing values, I think of the conflict between north and south Korea.  Both Koreas believe in different values. South Korea is a populated, modern country that focuses on the quality of life in their country. North Korea is an isolated country that constantly invokes fear into their citizens.  They focus mainly on their military power and propaganda. Because they believe in different things, they separated into two countries.

1.       Censorship in video games and movies is the most important to me because if I am watching a movie I want to watch the original not the radio edited version and I feel that a lot of people will feel the same for like for example with the movie Deadpool they bleeped out 50% of everything Deadpool said. There is a rating on this sort of content and I feel that it needs to become more strike with it, so they can leave the movie or game uncut or edited in witch majorly changes the plot. 

2.       I value my friend the most currently. But that might change I think that instead of making enemies you should make friends and if everyone could do that we could have a better world 

 

3.       The only thing that comes to is how Donald trump is representing north Korea as being a place full of evil when they aren’t that bad in reality this is leading into conflict between the two country’s well if you ask me there’s no way that those two will live together peacefully  but if there was it would to result in someone giving up to the other faction  and going peacefully. 

 

                1. I believe that alcohol should not be sold in local grocery stores. I value this because I care about other people’s well being.  I don’t want other youth to be influenced into alcohol, but I want them to live longer and to take care of their health.  I highly recommended them to wisely spend their money on life needs, then wasting it on booze only to be wasted for a few hours. 

                2. Family always comes first, and I value them because they guide me through the mistakes they have made in the past, only to improve ourselves years later. How this affects me is that I have a support to lean onto and to realize not all people have someone to turn to when in trouble.

My examples for competing values is Donald Trump and the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un.  They two have different values and beliefs, which in the end this may lead into violent conflict (war) between them. To solve this conflict or prevent this war, I believe they both need to hear about their beliefs and figure out if they can get along, or not. 

              

 the thing I value the most is family. It shapes how I think about the world because every time I have a problem I always go back to my family.

If your mom values school and your dad values work it can get messy. You can’t do school and work at the same time. If you work you won’t do as well in school

1.       The most important topic to me is capital punishment (death penalty). I don’t think this should be allowed in Canada. I don’t think it’s right to kill someone even if they committed a serious crime. In my opinion, it’s almost worse to spend the rest of your life in prison thinking about what you did. It is also kind of hypocritical to kill someone who murdered someone because you are also killing someone. 

2.       Family is the most important thing to me. My family is always there for me and I have always been taught that it is very important. Family affects how I see the world because the first things I learnt were from them. I’ve also always been taught that school is very important. School is where you learn about the world.

3.       the Armenian genocide is an example of competing beliefs. This was during World War 1 when the Turkish government decided to expel and massacre Armenians. The Turkish people were mostly Muslims and believed the Armenian Christians were not equal to them. They had very few political and legal rights. When the deportations and massacres ended, between 600,000 and 1.5 million Armenians were dead.

 

2.      I value my family, friends and school. These values make me to focus on school work and do well in assignments, get along well with everyone and to always respect each other especially the family. My first value is family, all my family members value family and respect everyone. If we do bad things to each other, we get punished such as being grounded, no videogames etc. Second thing we value the most is friends. My parents always taught us to get along well with everyone and don’t make enemies. This means try not to deal with bullies or bad kids once I tried getting along with them. Lastly, we value school. Because we valued school since I was young, I focus on my school work and do my work well. I do not try to finish my work fast just to go play video games, I put my best effort in each assignment. All in all, I value my family, friends and school.

 

3.      South Korea and North Korea are known as having a bad relationship even though they are right next to each other. This is because they both value different things. For example, South Korea value other countries, but North Korea does not value other countries especially U.S.A. This caused Korea to get divided in half and became what it is today. South Korea and North Korea fought for their rights and because of their values. There is a way of people with differing values to live together. We can stop more conflicts if we could understand and respect each other. If one-person values school and one don’t, one person who does can stay in a room until he or she finishes the work. A person who doesn’t can respect the other roommate and go outside, or play videogames quietly, or keep him or herself busy by doing something. If a person can respect the other, they can live peacefully together even though they have different things they value. 

2. Family, we've never had a lot, so family is the one only things I can actually say. Question everything, a value I use everyday in the real world. Nothing is ever as it seems, there's always something you're not seeing behind the scenes. 

3. World War 2. People can respect the fact that other people don’t see things similarly as they do. Nobody has to agree with their beliefs and that’s fine, learn to live with it, learn to live with each other.

I don’t think death penalty should be used or allowed in Canada because killing someone for committing a serious crime is basically a crime, no one should ever be allowed to kill other people for any reasons. I believe that people who have committed crimes deserve to be in jail where they can have the punishment of being alone and being with their selves for an amount of time, so they could think about all the wrongs they’ve done.

2.       Out of anything else in the world, I value my family. When I was younger I used to think that my family was perfect, we’re complete, there was no drama, and there was no arguing between my parents and siblings, but as I grew up I learned that nothing was perfect in this world especially my family. There will always be trouble with each other in the family and when there is, there is no one else who could solve or help you with it other than with everyone else in your family. 

3.       An example of people having to compete with their values are back in the 1900s when women could not have the right to vote. Men and the government back then didn’t allow women allow to vote because they thought that women just belong in their house taking care of their kids and cooking in the kitchen and women of course had to speak over that. So, then women marched and made posters saying, “votes for women” and finally got the right to vote. The way women solved this that everyone else needs to always remember is that they spoke up, they stood up for their selves, and supported each other and I think that’s what everyone else in this world needs to do. 

 

1)      I think number 5 is more important because if factories keep polluting our environment then its going to start making diseases and get animals sick. When people pollute, it goes into the lakes and rivers and makes diseases, it also kills sea creatures. Polluting is going to slowly take out our environment and endanger our sea creatures. When factories pollute gasses in the air, they’re ruining our atmosphere and everything that’s in it. 

 

2)      The things that I value in the world are people and our environment. I think some people in the world don’t care about anything and that makes me sad. We could make the world better by not polluting and keeping everyone and everything safe. In the world people pollute a lot and its very sad. Animals get caught in the waste and slowly die. I think we need to help and if we see any garbage we should pick it up and throw it away. 

 

3)      One example is that if someone is polluting and someone else catches them. It could lead to a fight because the person who saw the other one pollutes wants the world to be a better place but its hard when people are being difficult. This problem could be fixed by picking up the garbage and throwing it into the trash can or save it till you find one near bye. This could also be fixed by joining groups to help the earth. 

2.       The most important thing I value in my life and in my family is god. The reason why god is the most important thing to me is because without him I wouldn’t be alive I wouldn’t have been born into such a great family that cares about me and he saved my life when he sent Jesus to die for me. People think that god is a fairytale that doesn’t exist, but proof of god is all over history he created everything and everyone, but he didn’t want the world to be messed up like the way it is that’s humanities fault because we are sinners and I believe once the end times come and this world ends, Jesus will come back to take his children home.

3.        People who think differently about things, like if one person says that alcohol is good while the other thinks the opposite of what he thinks. Sure they think differently, but they’re both human so if they just disagree on one thing they can agree on other thing like sports and books, even tv shows and movies, so people shouldn’t disagree on everything.

I think that all schools should have uniforms. Even with antibullying being prominent in our schools, we still have people judging others for what they wear. Whether it's about the brand or the style, people still bully others on what they are wearing. If there were uniforms in schools all that would stop. There would no longer be a reason to bully others about the clothes they wear because we would all be wearing the same thing. Another reason why a uniform would help is with people deciding what to wear. When you must wear the same uniform everyday you would no longer lose time or be late to school. The last advantage to school uniforms is that there is a kind of unity when you wear a uniform. A uniform would in a way represent us as a school we would be showing a professional and unified school.

Family and faith are the things I value most. My family is so important because they are who will be there for me for the rest of my life, the are the ones I can turn to and ask for help from. In the end many thing come and go in life but family will always be there. My family has shaped how I think and act, They are the ones who no matter what crazy things happen in the world they will be there and we will handle it together. Faith and family go hand in hand with each other. A lot of the values I have and my family has comes from the basis of our Christianity. Without my faith in God I would not be the same, My faith is my guide and is how I deal with the issues happing in the world, it’s the filter that I see the world through.

North Korean and South Korea have had conflict for years now, that’s because they have different values. For instance North Korea's leader/dictator rules through fear and dictatorship. Whereas the South Korean government has a democracy where the people have a say in what happens in the country. To solve the conflict I believe that both sides will have to listen to the other, By trying to understand what the other side's values we can live peacefully. 

Out of all the topics, the most important one to me is, child abortion should not be allowed in Canada. I strongly believe should be banned or illegal in Canada, because you are basically killing a child. Even if the child is not developed or started developing that doesn’t mean you should abort the child. When females abort they are killing an innocent child for their own mistakes, because when female abort a child they do it because they aren’t ready for it, they get pregnant early or they are rebelling against their parents. Child abortion is one of the saddest thing someone could do.  If my mom had aborted me because she didn’t want me I wouldn’t be alive today. When women/female abort they are taking away a child’s future. Since one of the main reason people get abortion is because of having unprotected sex, I think if they don’t allow abortion in Canada, people will be more careful when they are having sex and keep it safe especially at a young age.

I value my faith a lot because it shapes me to be the way I am today. For me a lot of things revolve around my faith such as, family, dressing, morals, attitude. My family is religious, and I’ve been brought up in a religious way, so I’ve been taught to respect my elders and to always be thankful for everything I have, even if I don’t show that sometimes publicly. My religion shapes the way I think about the world, in a way that all the bad things happening in this world will not stop, and it might become worse, but there will be a time when all the bad things will stop, and the righteous people will go to heaven.

Right now, in the USA people are arguing about gun controls. While some people are arguing that guns should be allowed in the United States (pro-gun), there are also many people against guns (anti-guns). A lot of people who are anti-gun have probably experience something that has to do with a gun, but for some it can also be their values and morals, also vice-versa to people who are pro-gun. This argument sometimes creates riot on social media and everywhere else, and a lot of people defend their sides. I’m an anti gun person, I don’t support guns because when you compare the amount of mass shooting that has happened in to United States to mass shootings in Australia, it shows that banning or making a stricter gun policy, the outcome will be positive. But people can have different ideas, we don’t always have to agree with people’s point of view, but we can at least respect their values instead of arguing about it.
