It can be unfair to some kids. kids do very well in my classes, so I don't believe homework should be mandatory. People will say that if it is not mandatory, then nobody will do it, but this is wrong. Anyone who cares about their education and needs to do the homework will do it. However, homework is pointless and repetitive to those who have mastered the subject in the first place.http://www.debate.org/opinions/should-homework-be-mandatory

Too much homework makes kids crazy.
While there is scant evidence of positive correlation between homework and student achievement, studies show that too much homework decreases kids’ test scores. It’s hard to say that homework makes kids stupid, and that’s why the scores go down, but some people can imagine that the scores go down because doing nothing but homework after school makes kids crazy.http://education.penelopetrunk.com/2012/10/02/5-reasons-homework-makes-kids-stupid/

Consume free time

As stated earlier, children need time to spend with their family, catch up with friends and attend extracurricular activities so they can refresh their minds and bodies. Sadly, homework eats up the time children have to do all these. For older students, school work might also compete with both part-time and casual work, making it difficult for them to strike a balance between school and work.
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/5-reasons-why-homework-is-bad-for-your-child_us_57f72b3ae4b0b665ad817c57

Homework has been around about as long as there have been schools. people may be surprised to know that it was not always popular. In 1905, California banned homework for students under 15. In the 1920s, doctors formed a group called Physicians Against Homework. They said homework harmed students’ eyes and kept kids cooped up, denying them exercise and fresh air. More recently, researchers at Stanford University found that it causes considerable stress in students’ lives.https://www.timeforkids.com/g56/hwdebate/
