1. Tinikling is one of the hardest dances in the Philippines because you need rhythm, grace, agility and endurance or else you will get injured by the bamboo.
2. Tinikling originated from the Philippines' colonial era. While being colonized by the Spanish, the Filipino's were punished if they were working in the farms too slow. The people of Leyte chose to make it a dance to make life while colonized more fun.
3. It is an interpretation of the Tikling bird dodging bamboo traps that the farmers of Leyte made. The Waray-waray (people from Leyte and other large ethnolinguistic groups) had seen how the Tikling were able dodge their traps, and exaggerated it in their dance.
