I would say yes because some people think that your devices are listening to everything you say and they record everything you do so in terms of being spied on I would say we as a society are leaning towards that direction. Also when you do a basic search on car or anything you are interested in your feed will fill up with that subject/things you are trying to look at.

In the world of Big Brother, technology such as the telescreen is used to monitor the citizens of Oceania and to gather information on suspected defectors to punish them. Much like in our world, technology, especially social media, is used by companies to gather user information as well as monitor our day-to-day activities.

I don't think our technology will lead to our world to becoming like that of Big Brother because their world lives on an ideal that has already failed so many times in our world and everybody in our world knows that it's kind of messed up to torture and enslave people. Even if our world is heading into that direction people will obviously stand up and try to fight back against it.

I think that technology is taking us closer to the world of Big Brother, but only to a certain extent. With technology playing a bigger role in our society over recent decades, there have been more guidelines put in place. These restrictions could one day become more extreme and could restrict a lot of our activity such as what we say and how we perceive certain issues. Technology also collects a lot of our data, which the government could use to track and further use to control our lives. I do believe that it will not get as extreme as it did in the novel because I believe that physical torture would not become a solution, but mental torture is likely

The technology we have at the time could get us to the state of big brother, but I would say no 100% to that level of surveillance, maybe with a little more restraint but with advisements in peace and order and how everyone wants that I can see us leaning to that in the near future.

I believe that our technology has already reached the level of technology shown in the world of Big Brother. However, I do not believe we are getting to the type of world that Big Brother was. In that world, they used telescreens in order to spy on people to collect information to see if they are traitors or not. Our world will likely not use the technology to the level of Big Brothers where they constantly spy on everyone and instantly take someone out when they betray the Party.

This is because in the world of Big Brother, two of the main things are surveillance and believing whatever you are told no matter if it's wrong. Those two things can easily be seen in our world too. Surveillance is found in the cameras that are put in public buildings and now outside of houses. There is also surveillance on our phones. Our phones track everything we do, from the places we go to the objects we buy online. Now with the act of believing whatever we are told, we do it with social media. Nowadays people tend to believe whatever they see on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, etc. and most of us just believe it instead of doing further research to check if it is even true. I would agree since you are now able to track someone's every movement through them just having their phone. Apple for example allows you to share your location with anyone you want which then allows someone to know where you are wherever and whenever they want.

I would say yes our technology is taking us closer to the world of Big Brother since it is constantly modernizing. These new updates that our technology is getting can either be for the better or for the worse. As stated in the Orwellian notes article, it was brought out how the telescreen, a two way televison screen that was used as a surveillance tool by the Party was useful, but can be easily misused as well. It brought out how easily it was for the FBI to access almost anyone's personal information (invasion of privacy). With the technology they use, it makes you think about all the potential ways hackers being able to access this info as well. Social media and many websites effortlessly take our information from us, sometimes without us even being aware. Even the ads that pop up on our browsers and social media are influenced by our recent searches and also the things we talk about out loud.

The government can track and keep an eye on anyone if they want to, they collect a lot of people's data, almost like the telescreen in the book. I don't think technology is at the level it was in the book but it is taking us there in the future in my opinion.
