Colonies: Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire
Religion: The majority of the Northern Colonies followed strict Puritan religion, except Rhode Island was the outlier. Rhode Island participated in religious freedom and anyone could practice the religion that they wanted in Rhode Island.
Economics: In the North they would build ships from the lumber of the trees. They would also make rum from sugar and secretly export it to the Caribbean and West Indies.
Politics: Each of the colonies had legislation and was democratic. All of the colonies were chartered and not controlled by the royal crown, except for New Hampshire. New Hampshire was a royal colony so they were controlled by the British monarchy.
Family Structure: In the New England colonies the family would consist of parents with around seven children. The dad would work while the mother taught the children and looked over the house. The extended family would also live in the same house or next door.

Colonies: New York, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania
Religion: The middle colonies were fairly open with religion and had a big mix of them that included Quakers, Jews, Catholics, and Lutherans.
Economics: The Middle colonies were good with farming and natural resources. They were known as the "breadbasket" colonies because they would produce mass amounts of wheat that was ground into flour and then sent to New England. There was also large amounts of lumber that would be cut down to build ships with.
Politics: They followed the same style of government as New England with legislation and being democratic. Except most of the middle colonies were propiertary which means they were granted land by the king to make the colony. Only New York started off as a Royal Colony.
Family structure: Most of the families in the middle colonies were made up of farmers. The dad would farm the fields and the sons would help. The mother and daughters would stay inside where they would sew and cook.

Colonies: Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia
Religion: In the South most people were either Anglican or Baptist. Yet, their were many Catholics in Maryland because of the colony being started by an Irish famiy
Economics: The Southern economy was based on agriculture and plantation farming. They grew cash crops- tobacco, rice, and indigo. This agriculture depended on the slave labor of indentured servants or African slaves.
Politics: Southern govenrment was similar to the Middle colonies. They had royal and propietary colonies. Each colony had legislation and was democraticc.
Family Structure: In the South families were large and would work on plantations. Boys would work in fields, girls would work inside. There were no public schools yet, but some children would be educated within their homes.
