         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>David's Law</strong></div><div>David’s Law, SB179, basically “expands” HB 1942 and the definition of bullying.  Here are a few of the high points:</div><div> </div><div>·          Denies cyberbullying to include text, social media, internet, etc.</div><div>·          Even if cyberbullying occurs OFF CAMPUS, schools must address it if it “materially  and substantially” disrupts classroom or school operations</div><div>·          Schools must have a bullying/cyberbullying report form (paper/online) and some form of anonymous reporting</div><div>·          More weight in SB179 is lent to the effects of mental health and effects of bullying/cyberbullying on a vulnerable person</div><div>·          Stiff penalties for a person who coerces another to die by suicide and parents can seek injunctive relief (court order for the defendant to stop a specified act or behavior) for damages</div><div> </div><div>SB179 is complicated and comprehensive.  Having a sound policy and producers (investigation &amp; documentation) is best practice.   There are many resources available on the web .   More to come as it becomes available.</div><div> <a href="https://angelo.blackboard.com/bbcswebdav/pid-2194906-dt-content-rid-6180972_3/xid-6180972_3">David_s_Law_Overview.pdf</a>  </div>]]></description>
