1.How and Why did your family come to the United States?

My grandfather was 16 years old when he came to the United States. I'm not sure if he came illegally or not. He most likely came here because of the economy in Mexico was about to crash. The inflation rate sky-rocketed to over 100%. Many Mexican people came to the US at this time seeking a better life financially.

2.What were the obstacles that they met?

My grandfather was a teen he didn't know much and he didn't go to school or was on the way to getting a diploma. He only spoke Spanish and so did the rest of his family, they didn't know English at all. Now he does it is not that fluid. Another obstacle that he faced and so did his family is that they when they came the had nothing. No house or anything so they had to build from scratch, they started to work to get money and after years f working together they started getting successful. And then my grandfather met my grandma in the United Stated and they got married and had a kid. My oldest tio that was also a obstacle because they were young and taking care of a kid is a lot of work.

3.What was going on Historically in the U.S. during this time and did it affect your family?

In the 80's the United States Ronald Reagan was president. He had put the country back together, but I could say he was a good and bad person. He had cut taxes on the rich to stimulate the economy for people who lived in the United States. Also, MTV was also created in the 1980s as well as the End of the Cold War.
