         <description><![CDATA[<div>Attached below are some of the writing prompts the students do each week. They are given the opportunity to share in front of the class and are also encouraged to talk to each other to brainstorm. On the left side or on the top half of the page the students draw a picture that aligns with their writing prompt and this helps them brainstorm because they can visualize what they want to write about. The writing prompts each week are very different so the students learn how to write for different purposes and learn to communicate different ideas. I think having writing prompts be different each week is super valuable for the student as they see different purposes in writing and learn to speak in front of a group.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>From the beginning of the year students are taught different ways to write a catchy opening sentence. In the writing prompts the students have each week they are encouraged to use different strong leads. This allows for the students to build familiarity with the different types of leads so that when they are writing they can refer back to those leads. Sharpsville also uses R.A.C.E.S for their open ended question techniques. Most of the first half of the year is spent learning how to restate the question and making sure they are answering the question that is being asked. Students are also learning the basics of what information would be relevant in their prompts. Lastly, students begin to work on different closing sentences that accurately summarize their main points in their paper.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Below is an outline of a five paragraph essay the students were instructed to write about an animal of their choosing. The students used a website called pebblego to gather their information. The students write their outline onto their final copy and then they share in front of the class. The site has videos as well as a short paragraph about different aspects of the animal. This website made it very easy for students to make their outline but was also super educational.&nbsp;The students are taught opening sentences at the beginning of the year then they find their information and write a closing sentence for each paragraph. Many of the students used very similar opening sentences for each of their paragraphs and simply substituted a few words.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Below is the rest of the outline. Throughout the year students write about different topics so pebblego is not the only website they use. Students also write based off of info they find in books in the classroom or the library. Students at Sharpsville have access to a variety of different educational websites so that when they are given a topic to write about they don't always use the same website. This allows students to learn about research and the importance of using different sites for the info they gather. One of the writing prompts the students did was that they watched a video about an animal then had to write a paragraph about the specific animal. The class watched the video with the subtitles on and paused the video each time something came up so that the class had time to write it down.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Below is a sign hanging in the classroom explaining to the students how to explain the setting and characters of a story. This allows the students to learn the basics of summarization and helps the students sound knowledgeable when talking about a story they read. Students are at the age where they start to add more info to their stories so learning to do that is critical for the students. Also below is a book bag the students take each week from a letter that is deemed to be their best fit books. Because the students have access to their best fit books students can read and reflect on books on their level and are therefore challenged appropriately when asked about details about their books which happens every now and then.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Attached below is a look back and write activity the students do each week. The question varies each week but the main purpose is to introduce students to becoming familiar with using the text to support their answers. The students in Mrs. Davis's class do writing activities very often so they are almost always talking with each other and are always exchanging information with each other. It is a very fun environment to be in because anywhere I look students are having a productive conversation and they are always looking to learn from each other.
