Based on my reading of “Excerpt from Leonardo da Vinci: Renaissance Genius what i found surprising was that the apprentices had to do some chores in order to become a master craftsman. I found this surprising because i never knew that doing chores would do you good for example you learn life and even art skills. The text sates “like all new apprentices, he started his training by doing simple chores. He swept, cleaned, mixed paints, and ran errands. Soon, however, he bagan to learn the skills he would to work his way up from apprentice to master craftsman.” This proves that if the apprentices all wanted to be a craftsman then they would have to learn the skills for their future.

Based on my reading on the text Excerpt from Leonardo da Vinci Renaissance Genius by Barbra O’Connor what I found interesting, surprising, or confusing is when the text said, “ He swept, cleaned, mixed paints, and ran errands. Soon, however, he began to learn the skills he would need to work his way up from apprentice to master craftsman. He made brushes from animal fur and pens from goose quills. From sprigs of grapevine, he prepared charcoal for drawing. He helped apply plaster to walls for murals called frescoes. He learned how to mix egg yolk with ground pigments to make a paint called tempera and how to prepare wax needed for sculpture. He even mastered the skills of goldsmithing and metalwork. I found this confusing because the people made the apprentice people do all of those things

In the text it states, “Most artists in the Middle Ages were not interested in painting lifelike humans or nature scenes.” This shows that back then no one bothered to even try lifelike drawing until Leonardo shows them that lifelike drawing is more creative.

This was interesting because he practiced very hard and it all payed off. What was surprising was that verrocchio thought that Leonardo had skill. This was surprising becasuse if he was only an apprentice and made his art work more realistic over time.

I found this interesting because I think art is just fun. Not something to help you in your education. This proves that I thought art was to help your school day be more interesting. I also found this surprising because I think art is fun and I just try my best to do it or to try to copy it in my page. This explains why I think art is fun and never thought of it as something to help be smarter. This is why I found it surprising.

I found it interesting that people didn’t do lifelike and 3D drawings before the Renassaisne ended. I thought this because all the lifelike drawings da Vinci made are all jumping out at you and so lifelike. And ALMOST all the drawings we have today are lifelike and real. Or surreal. But it still feels life like, that’s the thing! It doesn’t makes sense that there was a time when that paintings weren’t 3D or lifelike or real or surreal. In line 25, it says, “ Before the Renaissance, paintings often looked flat and not very realistic.” This shows that there was no realism or life like painting which seemed weird for me.
