Hong Kong was colonized by England 156 years. People's lifestyle was influenced by English culture. The French Colonial Empire came to Vietnam and colonized from 1959 and it takes 61 years to end. People force to speak French and study French and some of the words we use now are from French.

The American came to Vietnam from 1949- 1975 and people need to study English and speak English, Vietnamese instead of French.

This resulted in the struggle that the Indigenous people still suffer from today. Their sense of community, identity, culture etc. was stripped from them.
When they came, they took the land from the Indigenous and gave them designated areas to live on. In 1557 Macau was rented to Portugal by the Chinese empire as a trading port. The Portuguese administered the city under Chinese authority and sovereignty until 1887, when Macau became a colony of the Portuguese Empire. Sovereignty over Macau was transferred back to China on 20 December 1999. Thus Macao still keep a lot of architectures with  Portuguese style.
