I have been using jamboard as an option with my students. It is an option through google on the drop down choices where calendar, drive are, etc. You can have multiple jamboards. I share the link with my students and then break them into breakout rooms. The students can just click through and see the other boards, or add a new board. It is a virtual poster board where they can type, add images, and design it how they choose, and multiple students can work on the board at the same time. It is a live document. I am able to view all of them as they create them. And then we share them with the large group. You can also use them as a "virtual whiteboard"

I did a check in with students to see how they were holding up and what I could do to make life easier for them. I told them, we aren't changing the work because it is corelated to the course curriculum , but if there is a way that would be more helpful to them to do the work, we could make adjustments. Students brainstormed ways that would help them function in class easier. We made changes together and they did make suggestions for assignments that didn't change the assignments content but would be easier for them so we made those changes as well.

Last night students and myself had an err of grumpiness coming into class. I ended up pulling up a list of bad dad jokes and we spent a couple of minutes grumbling together as we told horrible jokes. Students shared after that they really needed the laugh and it helped for us to shift the mood of the night.

Students record up to 3 minute demonstrations on specifically assigned tasks and provide feedback to each other in the same way. I believe the community has really been pulled together in using this approach.

In my Teaching in a Diverse Society class I give a book assignment and usually ask students to bring in 2 books that they found for the class library in an anti-bias classroom. Can't do that online, so instead I embed a Padlet board in the assignment and part of the assignment is that they have to post the name and title of the book and they can post a link to a video of the book being read or the Amazon listing. That way they can still see their classmates finds and I can look them over in the Zoom lecture. At the end of the semester, I make the Padlet available if they want to refer back to it.

I use Google surveys a lot. Sometimes I post one question: Do you have any questions about _______ (the topic of the day) and students can post the their anonymously. It is also a good thing to do at the start of class as you are waiting for students to sign in.
