Pacing. I am having a terrible time getting through lessons. I am also struggling with the homework piece. They do not complete homework at home. So if I assign it, it will not be completed.

Are universal links a must do?
I did not get the clear pockets with the shipments for the sound cards so have not done those.
Does the lower level group need to do the work book pages the on level group does at a different time during the day? Or can I save these for future use for them?

Instead of silent reading, we read as a whole group.

Look before you leap

We learned this saying last week and when I was trying put a piece of tape on some papers I kept getting it on the wrong side and a student told me "Mrs. Langreck, look before you leap and you might get it on the right side" ha ha ha .

My students are struggling with the independence that CKLA requires of them. They have such a hard time doing the workbook independently when it is asked of them, even if I help get them started. This interferes with my ability to better support the lower students.

I am also struggling with the amount of sitting. I try to bounce them between my carpet and their desks, but it still feels like a long time to sit.

I will take any advice to help me out.

To help with student engagement and flow of the lesson, I change the order of some activities on one of the lessons. That really helped.

We are engaged in the Knowledge lessons but Greek Myths has been a slow start for us. We also had a successful close reading lesson which was the first time I had ever taught that way and they were really on it.

They have loved telling me about exaggeration in the books that they've been reading.

The skills order has felt super clunky to me so I have had to rearrange that but have been resistant to doing it. It's definitely a learning experience. I also have been trying to balance slides and my own work. I want to keep engagement up.

I just have been struggling with the formative assessment piece. I want to be able to quickly see the standard, align it to the assessment, mark it in a grade book already made and then hand it back. That has been slow/non-existent for me.

I like the ease of use of student materials, teacher manual, and slides; The students are overall engaged and retaining high levels of knowledge, vocab, and skills

Pacing - some lessons take 2 days to get through; Are we supposed to complete all of the activities listed in the Pausing Point [is the Pausing Point lesson supposed to be one day?] Have not tried to have students use the on-line portion, but might want to try that with an upcoming unit - how do students log in; what does that look like?
