Source #1: LeBron, joined by Bronny, enters Year 22 with 'a lot in the tank'

The first article I analyzed was the story published by ESPN. It discusses the Los Angeles Lakers, more specifically, the correlation between LeBron James and his son Bronny James, who are not teammates. The media has been very critical of the situation. Since the team plays in Los Angeles, there is much media coverage compared to the smaller cities.

The argument I will be making is how the title of two articles about the same subject can control the negative or positive takeaways the reader observes in the article. In this case, both articles are about LeBron James and his son, Bronny. However, the article released by ESPN has more of a negative connotation to it because it focuses on the pressure the James family will face. On the other hand, the NBA.com article is more positive as it focuses on how happy LeBron is playing with his son.

With the popularity that comes with the James family, the media has been critical of the coverage given to the team. In college, Bronny James struggled, averaging just 4 points per game, but still earned a roster spot in the NBA. The article states "not that the optimism was overwhelming the team." Instead of focusing on the entire team, the media has zeroed in on the James family. In the past, there have been plenty of reports saying former players do not want to play on the Lakers because of the pressure that comes with it.

He is also very vocal about it, saying "It’s pure joy, to be honest, to be able to come to work every day, put in the hard work with your son every day and be able to see him continue to grow. We push each other. He pushes me, I push him. We push our teammates. Just a very joyous moment, not only for myself but for our family.”

"Joy" is a common theme used throughout the article and the headline set the tone.

They know any article about LeBron will get tons of interactions.

A: They are all accountable since the sources all mention who wrote it and the publication they belong to.

ESPN focuses more on the team aspect on how the James' popularity has played a role in the preparation, whereas NBA.com focuses more on the good side of things with the joy LeBron has felt.
