This is a book that you simply can’t put down once you pick up. The way it is so evident in our lives now is eery and worrisome. It is not so much the government now, that censors our reading, it is the fast paced media, the attention grabbing television and commercials. As Bradbury writes, there is more than one way to burn a book, you can burn books by simply not caring enough to pick them up and read them.

I could not put the book down from the moment I picked it up. The descriptions of mental illnesses and what it is like to live with one are so raw, beautiful, and real.

This book was absolutely captivating the entire time. It told the story of war from a perspective I had never seen before: the main character’s parents were murdered by war criminals and she must fight for survival by becoming a child soldier. She then carries this weight with her to America when she is adopted by an American family. Throughout the book she grapples with her past and tries to find peace in her life without any real answers. This book is a touching story of incredible heartbreak and loss and the growth that comes after.

This is a beautifully and eloquently written play that highlights issues such as self discovery, pride, money, and family. This play focuses heavily on the dangers of prioritizing money over family.
