The repetition shows us the main theme of the song, a love or admiration for someone. It repeats not knowing how to love to emphasise 'I can learn to love like you', and 'I can do about anything.'

The main hyperbole here is 'Nothing', 'Half' , and 'So special'.
It emphasizes how the singer never feels good enough but receives love anyways. This confuses them, as they don't know how anyone could love them, especially those they're singing about.

The purpose of the similie is to reflect their desire to be like the other, disliking how they are. They adore almost every aspect of them, and want to get better, unaware of the others flaws.
