rpr is not the way it used to be

Admins are here to moderate rps - if they have characters, they also partake in roleplaying - I think that the activity of an rp should not solely depend on the admins being active because what use is an active leader if there are no people to lead??? It looks so sad that some admins are trying their very best to keep an rp alive but people just lurk. And, I don't like seeing complaints about admins, when they're doing their best.

Back in my day (wow I'm old), nonaus have characters that are built based on the actual personality of their faceclaim, because of proper research. I don't think people have to know every breath, every step, every move (no pun intended) their muse makes - so long as a person who's afraid of heights does not go bungee jumping, you get what I mean? I mean I don't know the color of the toothbrush or the toothpaste my bias uses but it's common knowledge that if you're an idol, you got to keep your hygiene, you know? It's not rocket science to know - even just the basics - what your muse should be doing.

Bubble roleplaying. Need I say more? But heck yeah, I will say more. People cannot socialize and get into conversations if they're being actively ignored just because they're a new face. Heck, nobody even knows me. I experience bubble roleplaying because I know a lot are already friends in this community. How will the community grow if the gates are closed?

Nichiren has been for as long as I could remember. I fear that the people in this site are older than me and are as old as me (and I'm old). What if this site dies? Think about it. I just wish this post will help stop people hating on each other and keeping the conversations within bubbles, not letting anyone new into circles. We're supposed to pass this site to more people who might want to write stories of their own. Please don't let this site die with us. I couldn't imagine having a better platform for this endeavor.

honestly, it doesn't even feel like an admin issue at this point—it’s more about the overall roleplay culture and how the community interacts nowadays.

for one, nonau rps have become so clique-heavy. a lot of established friend groups tend to mass-join layouts together, which is fine, but it completely takes over the main chatrooms. when people just stick to their own circles, it inadvertently leaves new members or outsiders feeling totally ignored, making the environment feel really unwelcoming.

secondly, there's zero patience for a roleplay to grow anymore. the second activity drops even a little bit, there’s an immediate mass exodus where everyone just jumps ship to the next newly opened group.

thirdly, the faceclaim gatekeeping is getting a bit tired lol. it’s like certain users have completely branded specific idols, so the moment you see a username, you already know exactly who they’re playing. it makes the whole creative side of nonaus feel so predictable and repetitive.

fourth, the passion for actual writing and plotting seems to have vanished. a lot of groups feel more like casual OOC hanging spots rather than actual roleplays. back in the day, PMs would be flooded with plotting ideas and starter requests. now, nobody reaches out, and if writing does happen, it’s strictly kept within the same tiny circles. it’s also incredibly hard to find third POV writers lately. first POV just doesn't hit the same when you're looking for that deep, detailed storytelling that gets you in the feels.

finally, the move-in couple dynamic is exhausting. even when an rp specifically bans pre-made couples to encourage networking, people will literally just swap their usual faceclaims and still act like a package deal from day one. the second you check the profiles, it’s the exact same duo under a different skin.

it just feels like the cycle of jumping from group to group, gatekeeping characters, and refusing to branch out is killing the actual spirit of roleplaying.
